Asbestos               is               part               of               a               group               of               six               naturally               occurring               silicate               minerals.

It               is               typically               used               in               many               products,               such               as               brake               pads               for               vehicles               and               materials               that               are               used               for               building.

In               the               1990's,               many               brake               pads               were               replaced               with               linings               made               of               ceramic,               metallic               and               Aramid               fiber.

Many               manufacturers               and               builders               in               the               1900's               were               impressed               with               asbestos               because               of               its               resistance               to               heat,               chemical,               not               to               mention               its               durability.

There               is               a               chance               that               some               people               my               become               exposed               to               the               dangerous               asbestos               fibers.

That               is               why               it               is               of               paramount               importance               to               be               aware               of               the               dangers.

Know               the               facts               about               asbestos.

It               is               extremely               necessary               that               a               person               get               the               facts               especially               if               they               work               in               a               certain               work               environment               such               as,               construction,               plumbing,               insulating,               mining,               automobile               mechanics               or               in               the               textile               industry.

Be               aware               of               your               rights               in               the               workplace               when               working               in               any               of               these               surroundings.
               Identify               the               types               of               asbestos               diseases               and               their               symptoms.

Although               it               may               take               decades               to               recognize               the               symptoms,               it               is               important               that               you               are               aware               of               them               in               case               you               should               become               exposed.

Some               of               the               most               common               asbestos               diseases               are               Malignant               Mesothelioma,               Lung               cancer,               Asbestosis               and               Asbestos               Pleural               Disease.
               Know               the               dangers               of               inhaling               asbestos               fibers               in               the               lungs.

When               the               fibers               are               inhaled,               they               become               trapped               in               the               lungs,               which               can               cause               respiratory               complications,               and               in               come               cases               develop               into               lung               cancer.

Swallowing               the               asbestos               fibers               may               also               lead               to               other               diseases               such               as               cancer               of               the               esophagus,               digestive               tract               and               the               colon.
               Determine               when               to               seek               medical               attention.

If               you               believe               that               you               have               been               exposed               to               asbestos,               seek               immediate               medical               attention.

Some               of               the               symptoms               that               may               occur               are:               Shortness               of               breath,               a               persistent               cough,               chest               pain,               nausea,               anemia,               swelling,               fever/night               sweats               or               weight               loss.

Keep               in               mind               that               symptoms               may               not               appear               shortly               after               the               initial               exposure.

In               some               cases,               it               may               take               up               to               15-30               years               to               see               symptoms.
