Ilona Warf's blog ::Everything You Need To Know About Lung Cancer

You               hear               about               it               all               the               time;               cancer,               cancer, cancer!

You               know               that               millions               of               people               die               from               this               dangerous               disease               each               year,               but               do               you               really               know               what               cancer               is?

Cancer               begins               in               the               cells-               in               a               way               it's               created               by               the               body.

It               all               starts               with               cell               reproduction;               when               cells               multiply               to               replace               dead               cells.

In               cases               of               cancer,               the               tumor               surpressor               genes               ;               protective               cells               that               limit               cell               growth,               repair               mismatched               DNA,               and               control               cell               death,               are               mutated.

This               causes               the               cell               growth               to               go               crazy               and               not               be               able               to               repair               itself.

The               outcome               is               a               tumor               and               what               is               later               on               known               as               cancer.

Even               though               we               usually               associate               tumors               with               cancer,               not               all               tumors               are               bad.There               are               two               kinds;               benign               and               malignant               .

Benign               tumors               tumors               are               usually               not               cancerous               and               aren't               dangerous.

They               can               be               removed               and               don't               spread,               but               malignant               tumors,               however,               are               cancerous.

When               a               malignant               tumor               spreads,               it's               called               metastasis.

When               someone               says               that               cancer               is               spreading,               they               mean               that               the               tumors               is               spreading.

There               are               lots               of               categories               and               names               for               classifying               cancer.

Some               of               them               are:               carcinoma,               sarcoma,               leukemia,               lymphoma,               myeloma,               melanoma,               and               central               nervous               system               .

Carcinoma               begins               in               the               skin               and               tissues               that               line               internal               organs,               while               sarcoma               starts               in               bone,               cartilage,               fat,               muscle,               blood               vessels,               connective,               or               supportive               tissues.

Another               kind               of               cancer               is               leukemia,               it               starts               in               blood               forming               tissues               and               creates               abnormal               cancer               cells               that               enter               the               blood.

Lymphoma               and               myeloma               both               begin               in               the               cells               of               the               immune               system.

Melanoma               starts               in               the               cells               of               the               skin,               and               central               nervous               system               starts               in               brain               and               spinal               cord               tissues.

All               these,               and               more               are               different               forms               of               cancer.

Cancer               can               be               very               dangerous,               but               treatment               is               available.

Chemotherapy               is               the               most               used               source               of               treatment;               it               doesn't               cure               the               cancer,               but               helps               to               treat               it               and               sometimes               improves               conditions.

Researchers               are               still               searching               for               a               cure               for               cancer,               and               will               hopefully               find               one               soon.

Now               you               know               what               exactly               cancer               is,               so               the               next               time               you               hear               the               word,               'cancer',               you'll               know               exactly               what               it               means.
